Bad drivers can be found everywhere
Response to Mark Todd's 6/23 letter "Irresponsible driving …"
Thank goodness, Mr. Todd, that you are a defensive driver and that you were able to avoid what could have been a terrible accident.
I, too, have had many close calls on Highway 95 (as most of us have) but my near-misses have always involved a careless speeding semi or car with Idaho plates. These were bad drivers and they don't represent the majority of safe drivers here.
What you encountered was a bad driver. I doubt if any of the "California road rage shooters" are spending their summers in Sandpoint. It was interesting that you took this bad driver to represent an entire state of drivers and then you assume to know that they are calling the rest of us Idaho hicks.
It seems to me that you are the one doing the name calling and stereotyping an entire state of people and that's a shame.
We have many visitors and year-round residents from California (and all over the world) and it has been my experience that people are here for the peace and beauty and hospitality of our wonderful community — not to run you off the road.
