Ben Mitchell named to All-IEL first team

After leading the Sandpoint boys basketball team to their first state tournament in 27 year, senior Ben Mitchell was selected to the All-Inland Empire League first team by the league's coaches.

Senior Chris Hepperly was chosen as a second team member, while senior Blake Mahler earned an honorable mention placement.

This year, the Bulldogs finished with a 15-10 overall record and won the 4A Region 1 tournament championship.

Guard Scott Stockwell, who led Post Falls to a fourth-place finish at the state 4A boys basketball tournament, was named Player of the Year in the Inland Empire League.

Scott's coach and father, Dave Stockwell, was named Coach of the Year.

Coeur d'Alene junior guard Matt Palmer was tabbed Newcomer of the Year.
