NOTICE OF SPECIAL SUPPLEMENTAL LEVY ELECTION
Lake Pend Oreille School District No. 84
Bonner County, Idaho
Public Notice is hereby given according to law, and the requisite action of the Board of Trustees of Lake Pend Oreille School District No. 84, Bonner County Idaho, that a special supplemental levy election will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of said District for their vote and determination, a supplemental tax levy.
The polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the following locations:
Clark Fork —————— Clark Fork Jr/Sr High School
Hope ———————— Hope Elementary School
Kootenai ——————- Kootenai Elementary School
Northside ——————-Northside Elementary School
Sagle ———————— Sagle Elementary School
Sandpoint ——————Sandpoint High School
Sandpoint ——————Farmin Stidwell Elementary School
Sandpoint ——————Washington Elementary School
Southside ——————-Southside Elementary School
An elector must be a registered voter who has resided in this state and in this school district at least thirty (30) days preceding the election.
The question submitted will be:
"Shall the Board of Trustees of Lake Pend Oreille School District No. 84, Bonner County, Idaho, be authorized and empowered to levy a Supplemental Levy in an annual amount of $3,220,000 (Three million, two hundred and twenty thousand dollars) per year for each of the next two fiscal years (total $6,440,000), for the following purpose:
1. Staff $1,300,000
(a.) For supporting our schools (b.) Maintaining educationally sound class size
2. Technology $826,000
(a.) For mandatory ISAT testing demands & reliable technology (b.) To continue the lease purchase of computers (c.) Purchase of software licenses (d.) Support of the Wide Area Network (WAN)
3. Curriculum $520,000
(a.) Implementation of K-6 science program, K-12 language arts program, K-4 handwriting, K-8 technology and driver's ed. curriculum (b.) Replacement of consumable textbooks
4. Extracurricular $360,000
(a.) Academic competition (b.) Drama (c.) Music (d.) Athletics (e.) Yearbook (f.) Newspaper (g.) Cheer/Dance (h.) Transportation (i.) Personnel for all activities
5. Maintenance $214,000
(a.) Facilities Needs: clean, repair and maintain all buildings, grounds and athletic fields (b.) Support the increased cost of utilities (c.) perform preventative maintenance and upgrades as necessary
The District may receive delinquent payments after June 30, 2007.
Qualified electors who expect to be absent from the District on March 22, 2005, or who will be unable, because of physical disability or blindness, to go to a polling place, may vote by absentee ballot. Written application for an absentee ballot may be made to the Clerk of the Board of Trustees on a form made available at Lake Pend Oreille School District Office, 901 Triangle Drive, Ponderay, ID 83852 Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Such application must be made no later than 5:00 p.m., March 21, 2005. Electors applying in person may obtain their ballots starting February 22, 2005. Electors applying by mail should submit their requests as soon as possible. The absentee ballot must be received by the Clerk no later than 8:00 p.m. on the day of the election.
