Allen Junior Critchell, 82

Allen Junior Critchell, 82, of East Wenatchee, Wash., and a former longtime resident of Wenatchee, Wash.,passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005, in Central Washington Hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2005, at the East Wenatchee Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Calvin White officiating.

Interment will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the Pinecrest Cemetery in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Viewing will be held from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the church.

He was born Dec. 14, 1922, to Allen B. and Mary W. (Hadley) Critchell, in Sandpoint where he was raised and educated. Following his education, he moved to Seattle and worked for Boeing.

Al married Maryann Abrahamson just prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he served during World War II. He was stationed in Germany and England until his honorable discharge at which time he moved to Wenatchee, where he raised his family.

Al worked or Wenatchee Air Service as a flight instructor. He also worked as a carpet installer until he began his own company, Al Critchell Carpet Service.

On June 12, 1971, he married Beth Moore at Sandpoint and he continued to reside in Wenatchee. In June 1988, they moved to East Wenatchee, where they have since lived.

Allen built and flew remote control model airplanes. He was a charter member of Red Apple Flyers and assisted in buying the property that the club owns and uses to fly their model airplanes.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include his wife of the home; four sons and their wives, George and Sharon Critchell of East Wenatchee, David and Cynthia Moore of Spirit Lake, Idaho, Robert and Kathi Moore of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Douglas and Kathi Moore of Michigan; three daughters and their husbands, Janice Critchell of Wenatchee, Cathy and Dominick Ladolcetta of Irvington, Ala., and Carla and Randy Poelstra of Sandpoint; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humanitarian Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.

Graveside funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint, Idaho.
