Robert Gary 'Bulldog' Fraser, 72

Robert Gary "Bulldog" Fraser, 72, of Heron, Mont., passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2005, at his home.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, in the Noxon Cemetery in Noxon, Mont.

He was born April 24, 1933, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of Roy and Minnie Fraser.

He moved west with his mother when he was around 8 years old and was raised by Tom and Penny Johnson in Rockford, Wash., where he received his schooling.

In 1952, he married Shirley McNeilly in Rockford.

He was drafted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served from 1952 to 1955.

During his Army service he was on ski patrol in Leadville, Colo.

He also followed the rodeo circuit for a while and, from 1955 to 1962, worked in Hooper, Wash., for the McGregor Land and Cattle Co. Later they lived in Rockford and, in 1968, Bulldog moved to Enterprise, Ore.

In 1975, he came to live in Noxon, where he and his son, Chip, started a horse logging business called E-Z Logging.

Bulldog did a lot of work with breaking and training draft horses before and after being in the logging business.

He is preceded in death by a son, Steven "Chip" Fraser in 1981.

He is survived by two sons, Chuck (Kris) Fraser of Joseph, Ore., and Grant (Paula) Fraser of Fairfield, Wash.; a daughter, Gale (Kelly) Wetter of Plummer, Idaho; four grandchildren, Ginger, Jill, Mandi and Nick; a great-granddaughter, Maya; and his dog, Stub.

Bunch-Toews Funeral Chapels of Plains and Thompson Falls, Mont., has care of the arrangements.
