Carne named All-Star MVP

MULLAN — Sandpoint senior Elle Carne scored a game-high 23 points to earn MVP honors as the West girls defeated the East girls 69-59 in the District One All-Star Game at the Mullan Pavilion on Friday night.

Carne, along with Lakeside senior Corinna Hendrickx paced the West squad, who were limited with only seven players attending the game on Friday night.

Hendrickx scored 20 points and was the three-point champion after winning the contest at the half of the girls game.

Kellogg senior Jamie Brower scored a team-high 17 points off the bench, while Lakeland's Jessie Bartlett had 14 points for the East squad.

Boys All-Star Game

MULLAN — The East All-Star boys jumped out to a 27-16 lead at the end of the first quarter on the heels of the long range shooting of Post Falls senior K.C. Billetz as the East lead the District One Boys All-Star game.

Paced by three-pointers from Lakeland's Kam Kifer, Billetz and Coeur d'Alene's Joe Wolfe, the East broke the game open after trailing 4-0 early in the first quarter. Lakeside senior Tim Wolfe hit a pair of three-pointers to get the West within a 11 point deficit at 45-34, but the East would pull away to take a 55-39 lead at halftime.

At the half, Sandpoint senior Anthony Sorentino won the three-point contest, breaking a three-way tie with Post Falls Christian's Braack Adkins and Scott Stockwell of Post Falls.
