Bush's priorities aren't those of American people
It's appalling that the Republican administration is trying to push the budget through this week before the public realizes what huge program cuts and corporate freebies are included.
The proposed budget adds more than $400 billion to our already astronomical national debt, mostly through huge tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans, substantial program cuts for the poor and middle class, and Iraq spending.
Substantial health cuts, especially in Medicaid, will only amplify our country's current health care crisis and further destroy the security of two groups who need it most — senior citizens and the working poor. The proposed budget also slashes education funding; No Child Left Behind continues to be severely underfunded and Pell Grants and other programs that fund college for middle income Americans are also reduced.
It's time to let Congress know that Bush's priorities are not our priorities!
