| March 17, 2005 8:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Despite a little nip in the air, the Sandpoint bats were hot as the Bulldogs used 12 hits to push past Post Falls 10-7 in their home season opener Thursday night at Memorial Field.

Sandpoint Mayor Ray Miller may have thrown out the first pitch during the Inland Empire League baseball doubleheader, but it was the Trojans who came out swinging.

Post Falls quickly posted two runs in the first inning, however, the Bulldog countered with a pair of their own to even the score.

The Trojans, led by Bobby Kuber and Brandon Parker, who both finished the opener with a single and a triple, rallied four runs to take a 6-4 lead.

However, the Bulldogs responded once more with two runs to tie the game 6-6.

In the bottom of the sixth, Sandpoint, led by Alex Wolfe, Jake Way and Poelstra, knocked in four runs to build a 10-5 lead.

Sandpoint's Glenn Poelstra pitched five innings for the Bulldogs with closer Tyler Lichty finishing off the final two for the save.

The Bulldog bats were led by Ryan Argabrite, Ricky Klontz and Jake Way. Each earning two hits.

Sandpoint (1-1) will play the Bengals in Lewiston on Tuesday.

Due to an early deadline, the second game results were not available at press-time.
