Leona Celestine Converse, 90

Leona Celestine Converse, 90, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2005, in Kootenai, Idaho.

A visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Coffelt's Moon Chapel in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Coffelt's Moon Chapel.

Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Barry Johnson from New Song Bible Church in Sagle, Idaho, will officiate.

Leona was born on April 6, 1914, in Medical Lake, Wash., the daughter of Marvin and Virginia (Corchane) Archibald.

She lived in Wrenco and on Lakeshore Drive near Springy Point.

She married Ross Converse on Sept. 23, 1932, in Newport, Wash., and the couple moved to Sagle, Idaho, where they built their log home on Lignite Road in 1936.

Leona was an avid homemaker, longtime member of the Sagle Helping Hand Club, Sagle Hen Party, crochet group and the First Christian Church.

She is survived by her sons, Harvey (Doris) Converse of Priest River and Howard (Myra) Converse of Sagle, Idaho; his daughter, Marie (Ralph) Hawkins of Sagle; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren with one due in April; and several nieces, nephews and cousins and a sister-in-law.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Walter; a sister, Hazel; and her sweetheart of 53 years, Ross.
