Lola May Stein, 75
Lola May Stein, 75, resident of Elmira, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2005, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2005, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sandpoint with Bishop Jeffrey Howell conducting. Visitations will be held one hour prior to the service in the Relief Society Room.
Lola was born on Aug. 16, 1929, in Lodi, Calif., to Austin and Hazel Smith. She grew up and attended schools Stockton, Calif. She married Joseph Cortese on Oct. 8, 1949, in Stockton. The couple moved to Boston where they started a family and later moved back to Stockton. Lola drove all kinds of buses in California, including a school bus, city transit and special needs bus. In 1976, Lola and Joseph divorced.
Lola married Lynford Stein on Nov. 19, 1984, at his property in Elmira.
She enjoyed oil painting, crafts, gardening, raising petunias, growing trees, and spending time with family and friends. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by her husband, Lynford Stein of Elmira, Idaho; two sons, Doug (Rita) Cortese of Wenatchee, Wash., and Marc Cortese of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Doreen (Ron) Dutcher of Ponderay, Idaho; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Mickey, Albert, Robert, Earl, Richard, Charlie and Donny; and two sisters Mary, and Nila.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Joseph; a brother, Russell Smith; and an infant daughter, Mary Ann Cortese.
