Timberwolves outrun Bulldogs in IEL action

| March 24, 2005 8:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE — Senior Jeff Harris went 3 for 4 and drove in three runs to lead Lake City past Sandpoint 6-1 in its Inland Empire League opener Thursday.

Harris delivered RBI singles in the first, third and fourth innings for the Timberwolves (5-1).

Center fielder Cory Kreighbaum hit an RBI triple in the third and a sacrifice fly in the fourth. With two out in the fifth and the bases loaded for Sandpoint, Kreighbaum ranged to his left for a diving catch in right-center field to save at least two runs.

Roan gave up one hit in five innings, but walked seven.

The game was moved to Lake City because of the threat of bad weather in Sandpoint.

Sandpoint (2-3, 2-4) averted a shutout when Ricky Klontz's two-out double scored Luke Pearlstein.

Sandpoint plays Coeur d'Alene today at Memorial Field.
