Edith Cleo (Watt) Pierce, 87, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Private services have been held.

Edith was born on March 26, 1917, in Sagle, Idaho, the daughter of Jack and Minnie Watt. She grew up in Sagle and attended local schools, graduating from Sandpoint High School.

She married Gaylord (G.G.) Pierce on Sept. 24, 1938, in Reno, Nev., and moved to the East Coast, where Gaylord was stationed with the U.S. Navy at the submarine bases. They would later move to Hawaii and Panama, following Gaylord's career with the Navy.

Edith moved to Vallejo, Calif., and later to Lewiston, Idaho, after her husband's retirement from the Navy. They returned to Sandpoint and lived on Bottle Bay Road, where Edith enjoyed sewing and gardening.

She was active in establishing the Senior Citizens Thrift Store and served as president for 20 years.

Survivors included her daughter, Sandra Nichols of Florida; three grandchildren of New York; numerous nieces and nephews, including Del (Norma) Pierce of Sagle. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brothers and sisters.
