Usual LPOSD vote trumped rest of county's taxpayers
I see the "right thing to do" has been done.
Sixty percent in favor, 40 percent against the levy exactly as I predicted. Now the sun will still come out, the flowers will bloom, cats won't be sleeping with dogs, and the world will be dandy.
The usual block vote of school employees, spouses and voting age family members always trumps the rest of us.
Same old yellow signs. No voting date anymore, just a generic: "Save our Schools."Text books and computers can be replaced every year now. The myriad of sports, trips to the coast and Canada, ever increasing benefits and new positions created over the last decade can continue.
Same full page ads, showing the same doe-eyed waifs, another will all those sincere administrators, a third with a list of names.
One woman supported the levy so much, she's listed twice.
Now who could refuse?
The district admits now they've become dependent on those levies which will continue forever just like a drug addict needing a fix. It doesn't matter that state support, contrary to campaign statements, actually increased last year, about 3 percent, if I hear right.
Have you forgotten cumulative effect?
The EMS taxing district will be on the rolls shortly.
That's two pizzas, not one. Eight gallons of milk, not four.
Four matinee movie tickets, not two, and 10 gallons of gas monthly, not just five.
No more belly-aching about high property taxes though, it wouldn't be the "right thing to do."
Have a nice week, or if you're in school, a nice 4 1/2 days, or something like that.
