Wesley George Storrey, 93

Wesley George Storrey, 93, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Sunday, March 27, 2005.

A celebration of his life will be announced later.

Wesley was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on Aug. 26, 1911.

He moved to Long Beach, Calif., in 1920.

He graduated from high school in Long Beach and served with the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II.

He worked for the city of Long Beach water department for 25 years, retiring in 1973. He enjoyed camping, traveling with his recreational vehicle, fishing and riding horses. He moved to Sandpoint in 1995.

His door was always open. He was know as "Sandpoint's Grandpa" to many, and attended many high school sporting events.

He was an active member of the Long Beach California Presbyterian Church, a former Elk's Lodge member, and a lifetime member of the Friends of the East Bonner County Library.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Stone of Sandpoint; a brother-in-law, Stanley Allen of Sandpoint; and nieces and nephews, including Pamela and Everett Irwin of Sandpoint, Tom Storrey of California, Bob Storrey of California and Terri Borsis of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; a brother, Buster; and a sister, Muriel.

Final arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
