Phyllis Elaine Porath, 76

Phyllis Elaine Porath, 76, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005 in Sandpoint Idaho.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Coffelt's Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Pastor Barry Johnson from New Song Bible Church in Sagle, Idaho will officiate.

Phyllis was born on Aug. 28, 1928, in Richland County, North Dakota the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth (Anderson) Porath. She attended schools in North Dakota and in 1938 moved to Sandpoint where she continued her schooling, graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1945.

Following high school, at the age of 17, she went to work for Laurin Pietsch at the Sandpoint News Bulletin and continued to work there when it changed to Selkirk Press Printing doing various jobs there until she retired in 1992. Phyllis also worked as the clerk for the city of Kootenai until her death.

She enjoyed collecting antiques, especially bottles, additionally enjoying her garden and flowers. Her family was very important to her and she loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and their families. For the past four years she also cared for her mother Elizabeth. She was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her mother Elizabeth Porath of Sandpoint; two sisters, Elizabeth Berger of Sandpoint, and Shirley Miller of Thompson Falls, Mont.; three brothers, Dennis Porath of Clark Fork, Rodger Porath of Sandpoint, and Gary Porath of Sandpoint; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her father Fred Porath in 1967.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
