Moscow sweeps Sandpoint in IEL doubleheader
MOSCOW — Taking advantage of a break in the weather, Sandpoint traveled south to face Moscow in an Inland Empire League softball doubleheader.
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, the sun was shining a little more on Moscow as the Bears swept the series 12-2, 5-2.
Taking advantage of bunch of walks and a handful of errors in the opener, Moscow ended things after just five inning due to the 10-run rule.
The second game was much more competitive as the Bulldog bats got a little warmer, however, some execution errors at key moments turned the tide in favor of Moscow.
"The second game was real competitive and Nicole Buratto was keeping us in the game by pitching real well. We left seven runners on base and we had the bases loaded in fourth," said Dickinson. "Unfortunately, we just didn't capitalize on a couple of situations where we could have built up a lead on them, and eventually Moscow came around and scored some runs on us."
"But overall, we were swinging the bats today, and we didn't have a lot of strike outs, which is encouraging."
Sandpoint (0-5, 0-6) plays Lake City after spring break Lake on Monday, April 11 in Coeur d'Alene.
