SANDPOINT — The 2004-05 hockey season may be over for Sandpoint's three teams but memory of their championship series will linger for awhile. With two championships and one second place, this season has been very successful for Sandpoint hockey.

The IceDogs wrapped up their series on March 23 by winning their final game in a best of three series to win their first championship. This was followed by Sandpoint Title Insurance who played their final game on April 17 to win their championship series 3-0. The Powerhouse Blues played their final championship game on April 18 in a short handed 5-8 loss to take second place in their league.

There will be an awards banquet this Saturday night at the Powerhouse to celebrate the season's accomplishments. There will also be a presentation by Dr. Robert Pierce on the future of hockey and skating facilities in the Sandpoint area.

It has been a long season, lasting seven months from mid September to mid April, with each team playing close to 30 games. SHA invites anyone wishing to attend to make their reservations by calling George at 255-1484 or blueline@nctv.com.

SHA is also hosting its third annual Ice Breaker Golf Tournament at Hidden Lakes on Sunday at 2 p.m. Cost is $40 per person for a four-man team scramble. Anyone wishing to participate need only to show up with or without a team.
