Walter William Erickson, 90
Walter William Erickson, 90, of Hayden, went to be with the Lord he loved on May 7, 2005.
Memorial services are to be announced later.
He was born January 9, 1915 in Butte, Mont., to Matt and Louisa Erickson.
Walt moved to North Idaho in the early 1930s with his mother, father and brother, George. Matt and Louisa passed away when the children were young and they were raised by his uncle and aunt, Fred and Annie Erickson. Walt grew up with his cousins, who became like brother and sisters. Walt's brother preceded him in death.
Walt married his sweetheart, Lowava Cox, on Feb. 14, 1941. Their first home was in Seattle, Wash. America was at war and Walt was a welder in the Bremerton Navy Yard in Bremerton, Wash., all during the war.
After the war, they moved back to Sandpoint, Idaho, where Walt farmed and was in partnership operating a shake and shingle mill for many years.
In 1960 they moved to the shore of Lake Pend Oreille on West Oden Bay Road. They lived at the lake until they moved to Leisure Park in Hayden in 1992 and have resided there until the present. They spent many winters in Arizona where they made many friends.
Walt loved his Savior and attended church every where he went.
From 1997, they have lived in Hayden year round. Walter skied, golfed, did wood carving and his work was enjoyed by many.
Walt is survived by his wife, Lowava, and their two sons, David Erickson and Terry Erickson and their families, two granddaughters, two grandsons. He has one cousin, Emily Hart, of Colfax, Wash.; one cousin Natalie Johnson, Duluth, Minn., and cousins in Vasa, Finland. He had many friends and was loved by all for the quiet man he was, and he will be greatly missed.
