Blaine Stevens, 73, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2005, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2005, at the First Baptist Church on Division Street with Dale Coffelt officiating.

Blaine was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Spring Canyon, Utah, the son of Warren and Georgia Stevens. He grew up in southern Idaho, attending Dietrich High School and one year at Albeian College.

He married Mary Daily on Nov. 3, 1951, in Gooding, Idaho. They have lived in Sandpoint, where Blaine was a logger, for 49 years, and were involved in numerous community organizations.

His interests and hobbies included fast-pitch softball, elk hunting, fishing, boating and golf. Over the years, he was involved with Oden Hall hunter's safety for 20 years, Hope Boy Scouts for 15 years (which furnished flag poles for the 1967 World Jamboree), the Bonner County School District for 20 years, the State Vocational Education Board for 10 years, the Hope Elementary first grade tutor program for four years and numerous projects at the Oden Hall, including a handicap ramp.

Blaine is survived by his wife of 53-plus years; a twin brother, Wayne (Sharla) Stevens of Oldtown, Idaho; brother Charles (Diane) Stevens of Burley; sisters, Ruby Smithhisler of Sheridan, Wyo.; and Leila (Phil) Nelson of Twin Falls, Idaho; surviving children, Terry (Mendy) Stevens, Mark (Margie) Stevens, Cindy Derr and Becky Stevens; 11 grandchildren, Tiffanie, Staci, Blaine, Jason, Brent, Jennifer, Michelle, Timothy, Lacy, Melissa and Dallas; and five great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Wade, Brooke, Aleehia and Paige. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Warren and Georgia; stepmother, Zerma; brothers, Gordon and Glen; sister Louise; and a baby sister, Donna.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be a donated children's book for elementary school children, Clark Fork Ambulance, Northside Fire District or a local charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
