Righteousness is ugly regardless of party

| May 25, 2005 9:00 PM

What the Republicans in the Senate accuse the liberal judges of doing is writing the laws instead of interpreting it.

And, what the Republicans are trying to do by revoking the filibuster rule is to form a judiciary that is more likely to find their self-serving unconstitutional laws constitutional. If that is not maneuvering the courts into the positions of "writing" right-wing-based laws, I don't know what is.

Overweening righteousness is ugly no matter which party displays it. In this administration, it starts at the very top, as evidenced by the resubmission of these few judges who were already denied approval by the proper, bipartisan rule of filibuster.
