A Woman of Wisdom

| May 29, 2005 9:00 PM

I've been away for the past several years and so was unaware of the latest honor Sandpoint had invented to recognize women active in the community. But when my mother called me to inform me she had been chosen as one of this year's recipients, and she wanted all of her children to attend, I realized it must be important.

But, as in any family, conflict of schedules immediately came into play. The chosen Sunday was also the day of the planned graduation ceremony for my youngest daughter and invitations to all family members had already been mailed. How inconvenient to travel from Cheney, Liberty Lake and Spokane to Sandpoint for Mother's celebration and then quickly turn around and head back to Spokane for the graduation party. When I pointed out this annoying dilemma, Mother did the only thing she could, she declined the honor and proved, without a doubt, that Valle Novak truly is a "Woman of Wisdom."

Thanks, Mom and Grandma.
