Donald Emanuel Lagerquist, 83

Donald Emanuel Lagerquist, 83, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2005, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2005, in the Clark Fork Cemetery in Clark Fork, Idaho.

Donald was born in Rapid City, S.D., on May 19, 1922. As a child, he moved to Randall, Wash., where he graduated from high school and lettered in baseball and basketball.

During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. Following his military service, he attended college on the GI Bill, earning a bachelor's degree from Washington State University.

He moved to the Bay area of California and worked for Lucky's Grocery Stores. In 1977, he retired as a district supervisor in Fremont, Calif.

He married Alberta Fay Martin in Cappatolia, Calif., and moved to Clark Fork, Idaho, in 1978.

He enjoyed raising roses and fly fishing. He always had a large garden that he shared with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Fay Lagerquist of Clark Fork; five children, Bruce and Marie Lagerquist of Olympia, Wash., Janet and Don Jensen of Aloha, Ore., Karen and Scott Thompson of Laclede, Idaho, Barbara and Dennis Gasman of St. Peters, Mo., and Steve Martin of Sagle; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Audrey Mead, Joyce Shipley, Darlene Music and Donna Hood, all of Randall; and a sister-in-law, Marlys Lagerquist of Randall. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenny; a sister, Anita; and a granddaughter, Noraleigh.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
