Community helping save City Beach tennis courts
The Sandpoint Tennis Association is inching closer to their goal of saving the two City Beach tennis courts. Thanks in part to the pledges of nearly 25 community members, the group has raised $7,000 of the $30,000 needed to refurbish the courts. They have until Nov. 30 of this year to reach their goal or the city will tear the courts down, leaving Sandpoint with only six public courts. With the rise of youth and adult leagues in Sandpoint, six courts isn't nearly enough to accommodate area players.
Anyone wishing to make a pledge can mail it to: City Hall Sandpoint Parks and Recreation Department, 1123 Lake St., Sandpoint ID, 83864. All pledges are tax deductible, and money will only be collected it and when the target amount is reached.
