Jack Roy Hansen, 81, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at his home of 60 years on Division Street in Sandpoint.

A celebration of his life will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery in Sandpoint on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at 11 a.m. Graveside services will be held.

Jack was born in Sandpoint on Aug. 8, 1924, the son of Martin and Elise Hansen, early Sandpoint settlers. Jack was the youngest of four children. He attended the old Lincoln school as well as Sandpoint High School. He then enlisted in the Army. He served in World War II and was honorably discharged.

Jack married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine Lafavor on Dec. 31, 1943. This New Year's Eve, they would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

They had one son and two daughters that he loved deeply.

Jack worked many years at Lasswell Milling Company, also known as Panhandle Milling, on Fifth Avenue in downtown Sandpoint.

He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing on Lake Pend Oreille. He also enjoyed working in his shop and making wooden items for his family. Jack loved being outside in his yard watching the squirrels and birds. There was never a nice day that went by that you wouldn't find him sitting on his rocking chair on the back porch. He loved spending time with his wife and all of his family.

The community has long enjoyed the holiday decorating that jack and Lorraine created for the holiday seasons.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Hansen; a son, Claire (Sylvia) Hansen; two daughters, Regina Hammack (Buff Johnson) and Sonja (Russ) Brisboy; a sister-in-law, Shirley Roth; seven grandchildren, 13 3/4 great-grandchildren and many other friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Elisa Hansen; a sister and two brothers.

Memorials may be made to the Wishing Star Foundation of Sandpoint at 665 East Mountain View Rd, Sandpoint, ID 83864.

The entire family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Pastor Steve Brashaw and his wife, Cindy.

Following services, we would like to invite friends and family to a potluck gathering at Regina and Buff's house at 812 McGhee Road, Ponderay.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Services of Sandpoint.
