Ruth G. (Dettwiler) McQuaide, 98

Ruth G. (Dettwiler) McQuaide, 98, was born Aug. 9, 1907, in Heron, Mont. She passed away on Nov. 18, 2005, in Spokane Valley, Wash.

A visitation was held on Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, from noon until 5 p.m. at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines.

A vigil service followed in the evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams Rd. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Ruth is survived by her son, Gary Dettwiler and wife, Frances; daughter, Patricia Hellman and husband, Lenny; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in deth by her husband, Jack, in 1958.

She began her teaching career in Clark Fork, Idaho. Ruth taught grade school in the Central Valley School District for more than 35 years. After retirement, she continued teaching at the adult education center.

Ruth loved to travel, enjoyed gardening and was a great cook.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to St. John Vianney Catholic School Fund.
