| November 25, 2005 8:00 PM

Pamela Elizabeth Flynn, 72, was called to her true home on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, in Port Orford, Ore. While visiting the coast with part of her family to scatter her husband's ashes, Pam slipped into the surf. Rescue was attempted by her sons, Tom and Brian, and her nephew, Don.

Pam was born on Oct. 26, 1933, in Salem, Ore., to Melvin Wilkinson and Carolyn Wilkinson. She later moved to Milwaukie, Ore., where she graduated from high school in 1951. After graduation she attended Cascade College in Canada. She then began nursing school at Good Sam Nurses Training. While attending school she met and soon married David E. Flynn on Oct. 26, 1956.

Pam and her family lived in many locations in the Pacific Northwest, while her husband served 20 years in the Coast Guard.

Her first child, Martha, was born in 1957 in Astoria, Ore. Soon after, David was born in 1959 and Tom was born in 1961 in Portland, Ore. Brian followed in 1963 in Port Angeles, Wash. Pam found herself busy raising her four children alone for long periods until her husband David retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 1968.

She was a committed and loving mother and wife, always trying to make everyone around her comfortable.

She enjoyed many pursuits, including plants, photography, art, travel, and friends. After her husband's retirement, Pam and Dave eventually settled in Sagle, Idaho, since 1992.

Pam leaves her daughter Martha Nielson of Beavercreek, Ore.; sons, David Flynn of Sandpoint, Idaho and Brian Flynn of Sagle, Idaho; grandchildren, Eric Nielsen of Beavercreek, Ore., Annie Nielson of Flagstaff, Ariz., Ben Flynn, Hans Flynn, of Sandpoint, Idaho, Brianne Flynn of Eugene, Ore., Josh Flynn, and Ian Flynn of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a brother, Mel Wilkinson, of Boring, Ore. Pamela also leaves an extended family of dear ones.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday Dec. 3, 2005, at the Sandpoint Community Center at 204 South First, Sandpoint, Idaho. Coffee, tea, and refreshments will be served. Those wishing to donate a gift or flowers may send it to the Flynn residence at: 443 Kirpal's Way, Sagle Idaho, 83860.
