Dale Edmund Spencer, 84
Dale Edmund Spencer, 84, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 28, 2005, after six days of living without his beloved wife, Normalee.
A memorial service for Dale and Normalee will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at the Sandpoint Christian Center on North Boyer Avenue.
Dale was born on Nov. 11, 1921, in Omaha, Neb., to the late Ted and Mary Spencer.
Dale served in World War II in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He fought in Central Europe and the Rhineland, where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He was communications sergeant in the 89th Infantry Division. It wasn't the battles, but being away from Normalee, that made those the worse years of Dale's life.
After the war, they settled in Santa Rosa, Calif., and later moved to Sandpoint, Idaho.
Dale was very active in the community, with Panhandle Special Needs, Bonner Gospel Mission, Idaho Chaplains Corps and the jail ministry. He helped build the Sandpoint Christian Center, the Monarch House and the women's shelter. And last of all, Dale had his Bible study group at Life Care.
Dale is survived by his seven children, 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his brother, Dan (Bev) Spencer; sisters, Sally Holstein, Dorothy Arnold and Patsy Kucirek. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Les Spencer; a sister, Myrt Spencer; a gandson, Corey Gollenberg; and his loving wife of 64 years, Normalee.
The family would like to thank the Life Care staff for the loving care of their wonderful parents.
Normalee Catherine Spencer, 83
Normalee Catherine Spencer, 83, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 22, 2005.
Normalee was born on Sept. 14, 1922, in Ralston, Neb., to the late Charles and Ida Smith. She married Dale Spencer in 1942 in Nebraska.
The couple moved west to California, where they resided for 30 years. They owned a masonry business which Normalee managed while raising seven children.
They moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1977, where they lived on their mountain in an A-frame home which Dale and their sons built. After almost 30 years on their beautiful mountain, Normalee and Dale spent their last months at the Life Care Center of Sandpoint.
Six days after Normalee passed away, Dale went to join his beloved wife.
Normalee is survived by her children, Chuck (Toni) Spencer, Paul Spencer, Therese (Rod) Walker, Celeste Gollenberg, all of Sandpoint, Bill (Barbara) Spencer and Ted (Melissa) Spencer of Oregon, and Ed (Deb) Spencer of California; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her brothers, Dale (Lillian) Smith, Phil (Marg) Smith, Joe (Sharon) Smith; sisters, Joan (Clyde) Gummow, Rita Christensen and Lucille (Bud) Burge. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Clyde Smith; a sister, Mary Kelp; and a grandson, Corey Gollenberg.
A memorial service for Normalee and Dale will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at the Sandpoint Christian Center.
The family would like to thank their mother's church friends, her special friends at Life Care and Mary Nadeja for showing their mother so much love.
