Bulldogs fall in three to Moscow

| October 6, 2005 9:00 PM

The undefeated Moscow Bears jumped on the Bulldogs early and never let them hit their stride, winning 25-11, 25-17, and 25-14 Thursday night at Les Rogers Court.

"I don't think we ever got going," said coach Karen Alsagar. "Whether our players will admit it or not, we might have been a little intimidated."

Understandable when seeing six-foot-three senior Kelsey Taylor, arguably the best player in the state and future Idaho Vandal, standing at the net every time you go to hit.

"When you play high above the net, you're six-three, jump well, and your timing is good, it has to be intimidating to hit against," said Alsagar.

Taylor had 12 kills and six stuff-blocks for the 21-0(11-0) Bears, and Dolny Maddy added 26 assists.

Lydia Tollbom had six kills and three blocks to lead the 2-12(2-8) Bulldogs, and Savanah Lester posted six digs.

The Bulldogs' biggest hurdle remains inconsistency, where they play strong for stretches, followed by bouts of inconsistency.

"Our good hitters will have a good night, and then they'll have a couple of bad nights, we're playing too up and down," said Alsagar. "I don't have six guns, where two of them can be off and we'll still be o.k. We need the girls that can bang to be banging all the time if we want to make it to state."

The Bulldogs play at Post Falls this Saturday.
