Cats topple Mullan in four

| October 11, 2005 9:00 PM

CLARK FORK — The nerves of senior night had the Wampus Cats a little jittery in first game, but they ultimately settled down and handled visiting Mullan 20-25, 25-15, 25-17, and 25-19.

In fitting fashion, two seniors led the way for the volleyball squad — with Tiffany Van Buren totaling eight kills, 37 digs, and five aces — and Tia Becker adding 10 aces and nine assists.

The presence of six-foot-one sophomore Fawn Story had Clark Fork searching for ways to get the ball around her, as she was stuffing a lot of balls early and causing the Cats trouble.

"We started out slow," said head coach Lisa Allen. "Then the serving kicked in and we started playing smarter, working the ball around the tall girl."

Freshman Bailey Hewitt joined her fellow seniors with a strong serving night, tallying 5 aces. Jolene Meredith, Cali Candaux, Argelia Garmendia, and Serina O'Dell Brockus all played their last home game for Clark Fork.

The Cats are now 7-5 heading into the North Star League tournament.
