Georgia E. 'Betty' MacSpadden, 79

Georgia E. "Betty" MacSpadden, 79, passed away in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Monday, Oct. 24, 2005.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. (MDST) Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, in the Heron Community Church in Heron, Mont. Pastor Mark Wendle, Clark Fork Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Heron Cemetery.

Betty was born in Missoula, Mont., on Feb. 6,1926, the daughter of Floyd E. and Georgia (Knott) MacSpadden. She attended schools in Sanders County, Wyo., Arizona and Colorado.

She graduated from high school in Durango, Colo., and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado, and a master's degree from Washington State University.

She was a teacher for the Salinas California School system for 30 years, teaching middle school and high school. In 1986, she retired and returned to Heron, Mont.

For many years, she served as the secretary/treasurer for the Heron/Noxon Cemetery District. She was active in Heron community affairs, serving on many boards and holding many offices.

She was a member of the Heron Community Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the PEO and the Future Homemakers of America. She enjoyed sewing, collecting stamps and coins, and loved reading a good book.

She is survived by her brother, Floyd E. "Mac" MacSpadden of Kent, Wash.; her sister, Beverly M. Dana of Cheney, Wash.; three nephews, Don MacSpadden of Warden, Wash., Doug MacSpadden of Warden, and Brad Dana of St. Paul, Minn; two nieces, Judy Quine of Redding, Calif., and Leslie Dalley of Grandview, Wash.; two grandnieces, a grandnephew and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald.
