Jeanne Carolyn Falwell, 84

Jeanne Carolyn Falwell, 84, passed away at her home on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, in Kootenai, Idaho.

Private family services will be held.

Jeanne was born on Sept. 4, 1921, in Connersville, Ind., the daughter of C.C. and Belle (McEwan) Brown. She grew up and attended local schools, graduating from high school in Boswell, Ind. She attended St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Lafayette, Ind., and received her nursing degree.

She enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 as a flight nurse and received her commission as a first lieutenant during World War II. She assisted in the evacuation of the wounded from Europe and flew from England to the United States.

Jeanne met E.C. Falwell, a glider pilot, and they were married on Aug. 30, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this year. They traveled throughout the United States where they were stationed and lived in Grass Valley, Calif., retiring in 1961. They moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, on June 4, 2005, to be near their daughter, Christine Vergoglini of Kootenai.

Her hobbies included traveling the Southwest, playing the organ and piano, collecting Navajo Indian jewelry, working crossword puzzles and was also an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband, E.C. Falwell, her daughters Chrissi, Carolyn and Connie her grandchildren, Rocco, Genaro, Jeanne, John, Joanne and Guy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandsons, Sammy and Harlan.
