Eileen Mary Hammersberg, 90, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at Coffelt's Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division St., Sandpoint. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Sandpoint.

Eileen was born on April 25, 1915, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Ernest and Lilly (Garthwaite) Barrington. She moved to the United States in 1927, settling in Seattle, Wash.

She attended and graduated from Lincoln High School and continued to further her education at a business college in Seattle. In 1940, Eileen became a United States citizen — the same day as her mother.

Eileen worked at a prestigious law firm in Seattle on top of the Smith's Tower Building for nearly 20 years.

It was on March 8, 1952, she married Cliff Hammersberg. She decided to be a stay-at-home mom to raise her family and care for the home. She was a very devoted wife and mother.

Eileen was a skilled artists and had crocheted everyone in her family a blanket, passing that talent onto her daughter. She also enjoyed making gift cards from flowers that she had picked and dried.

She had a special place in her heart for children, so much so that she "adopted" a child through Children's International in Pakistan, sending money and gifts. She also had a love of animals and made donations to several charities for their care.

Eileen moved to Sandpoint in 1985, shortly after her husband passed away that same year. Eileen was a devoted and caring grandmother. She was a huge part of her grandchildren's lives, babysitting when needed and enjoying every moment of it.

She loved the Lord and had a list of people for whom she would pray every night.

She is lovingly remembered and survived by her two children, Michael (Randi) Hammersberg of Sagle, Idaho, and Holly (Mike) McCredy of Sagle; five grandchildren, Jeff Howard, Melissa Dinning, Stephanie Howard, Shawna Howard and Michaella Hammersberg; and three great-grandchildren, Harmony, Hunter and Jeremy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cliff, in 1985; and a sister, Gladys, in 1912.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
