Mathew E. Farmer, 19, of Fort Bragg, N.C., died Oct. 23, 2005, as a result of a car accident in Fayetteville, N.C.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Burlington, Kan. There was a Rosary with visitation following at 6:30 p.m., Friday at the Jones Funeral Home, Burlington, Kan. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Burlington, Kan.

Mathew was born April 18, 1986, in Emporia, Kan., the son of William and Shawn Farmer.

Mathew grew up in Burlington, Kan., and attended the Burlington schools until his senior year when he moved to Priest River, Idaho, with his mother in the summer of 2002 and attended Priest River Lamanna High School, graduating in 2003.

He was active in football and wrestling at Burlington and continued wrestling at Priest River, where he took first in districts and qualified for the state tournament.

He enlisted in the Army in 2004 and was a private first class assigned to Company A of the 3rd Battalion of the 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena in Priest River and the Knight of Columbus Council No. 6055 in Burlington, Kan.

He is survived by his father, William Farmer of Altoona, Kan.; his mother and her fiance, Shawn Farmer and C. Wade Coldiron of Priest River; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Edna Farmer of Altoona, Kan.; his maternal grandparents, Duane and Lois Smith, Burlington, Kan.; two brothers, Christopher and Michael Smith of Burlington, Kan.; and two sisters, Michelle Farmer and Morgan Vogel of Priest River.
