Newton and Lockwood would listen to residents

| October 29, 2005 9:00 PM

My hope is for a large turnout at this November's election of City Council members. I believe this is a critical time for the city of Sandpoint. Those we elect this fall could have a significant effect on our future.

There are two candidates whom I believe will serve us well due to their willingness to listen to our concerns, and perhaps more importantly will actively solicit input from us on the important issues facing Sandpoint in the future.

The candidates I refer to are Steve Lockwood, who served us well on the Planning and Zoning Commission as chairman, is currently a school board member, and chaired the first phase of the Downtown Revitalization Commission; and Helen Newton, based on her years as city clerk, who has the strongest background of anyone I know, for serving on the council. I believe a vote for these two fine candidates will signal a return to community involvement in the decision making process. Thank you for your consideration! Please vote!
