Andrew Jan 'Andy', Archer 39

Andrew Jon "Andy" Archer, 39, passed away, Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, in Sandpoint, Idaho, from natural causes.

A Vigil service and viewing will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 4 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sandpoint. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 5, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Dennis C. Day officiating. Graveside services and burial will take place at the Vacaville Cemetery next to his father David Archer in Vacaville, Calif.

Andy was born in Oakland, Calif., on Oct. 8, 1965, to David and Dolores Archer. He grew up and attended grade school in Walnut Creek. When Andy was in the seventh grade the family moved to Vacaville, where they lived on a horse ranch. As a child, Andy was active in 4-H, he also helped raise and show steers, sheep and pigs. He achieved champion status at showing horses. Andy was a wrestler and played football; including freshman status JV, captain of his JV, varsity and J.C. football teams. He graduated from Vacaville High School in 1984.

Andy served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1990. He went on to graduate from St. Mary's College with a bachelor of science degree in business management.

Andy always had an entrepreneurial spirit. He had a roll in six movies during a short acting career including "The Lady of the House" and "The Black Stallion." He had a hand in developing a sandblasting company. He owned Archer Racing Enterprises, where he drove a green wingless sprint car with the number 13 on it, and was known as "Tazman Andy." His latest venture began as an eBay store and grew into The Katzmeeow a local antique shop on Church Street.

Andy married Kathleen "Kat" Bierer on June 20, 2001, in Lake Tahoe. The couple moved to Sandpoint in November 2003. Andy was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Cliff Hanger's Jeep Club in Vacaville, and the NCMAA racing association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, sports, riding his Harley, and vintage cars. He was proud of his Italian heritage and was a history and architecture buff.

He is survived by his wife, Kat Archer of Sandpoint; his children, Ashley and Devin Archer of Sandpoint; his mother, Dolores Archer of Pacheco, Calif.; a brother, Mathew Archer of Livermore, Calif.; his parents-in-law, Chuck and Pat Bierer of Sandpoint; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father David Archer.
