Community's library is model for others
I guess I'm naive. I thought all communities had a wonderful library like we do here in Sandpoint. I've lived here long enough to see it grow from one building to the next and then to the beautiful building we have now. I thought everyone's library was growing in the same direction as ours but my friends in Coeur d'Alene and Newport say not so, and how impressed they were when they followed me into my library.
What a wonderful opportunity my library affords my family and me. My children have enjoyed the library's "story time," my children have won prizes and taken home free books. We have watched PBS programs on DVD and video that we couldn't on TV for we only receive Channel 4. I've read books that I'll ponder the rest of my life and I've kept in touch with my nomadic mother, who travels around in her little house on the freeway. How great it is to walk into the library and e-mail her and know she is OK and update her on our current status.
Our library has books on tape and a great music selection on CD. It's a place I can pass my time reading the newspaper or a magazine. It's also a place to meet a friendly smile. What wonderful people we have working at our library. They are good at what they do and we appreciate it.
