Help hurricane victim and keep working

| September 14, 2005 9:00 PM

Over the past two weeks many clients, friends and relatives have conversed with me over how we can help the hurricane survivors.

We came to the conclusion that we can help in many ways, even when there is no extra money for us to share with them. One way that stands out is for us to continue working and paying our bills. I know this sounds strange, but by continuing to work, pay our bills and shop at home, we support other people to get a paycheck to purchase needed items and pay their bills. And many people whose paychecks we contribute to by shopping at home and paying our bills are able to contribute monies to the survivors.

Another thing we decided we can do is to remember to really support our local charities. As we support our local organizations, they will need less funds/grants from the national organizations that are already beginning to feel the stress from the disaster. I guess what it comes down to is take care of each other at home, learn to be self-reliant and understand that by ourselves we can make a difference, but together we can change the world. I truly know that we are here for two reasons, to be in joy and to be of service to each other.

I stand in joy that in my humble way I am able to support the survivors and continue to bless my own home community.
