Fuqua, Coles help JV girls in shutout of St. Maries

ST. MARIES — Alex Cole took advantage of a couple Lumberjack breakdowns and scored both goals within a two-minute span late in the first half for the Bulldog junior varsity at St. Maries City Park.

"We fought them off for the majority of the game," St. Maries coach Josh Chapman said. "I wouldn't say we played with them, but for us against Sandpoint, that's good."

Goalie Stephanie Fuqua posted six saves helping to ensure the shutout.

First half — 1, Spt, Alex Cole (unassisted), 37:00. 2, Spt, Cole (unassisted), 38:00. Second half — none.

JV Boys:

Tyler Barley netted a feed from Luke Peters for Sandpoints lone goal in a 1-1 tie at St. Maries.

"I was pleased; our midfield play was much better," St. Maries coach Chris Renaldo said. "Sandpoint's jayvees are strong. These kids are the same ones that go to state every year and win when they're varsity."
