Cats game effort comes up short

| September 16, 2005 9:00 PM

Clark Fork put up a game effort Friday night, but youth and injuries were too much to overcome as the Colton Wildcats won 52-26.

"I'm very proud of how the guys came out and put up a gutsy performance," said head coach Brian Arthun. "The Colton coaches said it was the most physical game they've played all year."

Ryan Miller scored the Cats' first touchdown on a 64 yard gallop where he out sprinted the Colton defense. Bill Clayton and Beezer Ruen each added short touchdown plunges. Freshman quarterback Pat Young hooked up with Austin Martin on a 20 yard pass for his first varsity score.

Playing with an injury depleted squad the Cats would have had to play perfect football to have a chance against eight man power Colton.

"Five turnovers were just too much to overcome with our youth," said Arthun.

Clark Fork begins league play next Friday when they travel to Lakeside.
