Oil prices are falling, why aren't gas prices?

| September 17, 2005 9:00 PM

When Katrina hit and the talk was about the oil refineries being impacted, the price of gas in Sandpoint started climbing. I'm talking from that morning to noon to afternoon. Now in that time I did not see one tanker pull up. So the stations were hiking the price even though they had bought at the lower price. I know because I was driving around doing my job and also watching the stations on Fifth Avenue. My question is: The price of sweet light crude fell recently to $1.90 per barrel and the price of gasoline futures fell 12.87 centas. Will I see the price of gas go down in the morning? Probably not. Let's wait and see.
