Bulldogs can't bounce back against Post Falls

| September 20, 2005 9:00 PM

The Bulldogs dropped a tough first game 30-28 to the visiting Trojans Tuesday night and never quite recovered, losing the next two 25-15, and 25-18.

Katie Watson led the team with nine kills, Lydia Tollbom added six kills and four blocks, Savanah Lester recorded 19 digs and Julia Witte set everything up with 49 assists.

Head coach Karen Alsagar said the team needs to improve at the net in their blocking and hitting, changing what opposing teams are trying to do in order to get things turned around.

"Right now Katie and Lydia are coming through with the big hits when we need them," said Alsagar. "We just need more girls to step up to the bat in that way. We have some girls who step up, then step back, but nothing constant."

The 1-6 Bulldogs head down to play Lakeland on Thursday at 7 p.m.

JV Game:

The JV girls continued their stellar season with a 25-8, 25-12, 15-10 win over Post Falls. They have only lost one match and a few games all season. Head coach Malia Meschko touted freshmen Kelsey Windju, Abby Helander, Linnia Hawkins and Nicole Adams as being instrumental in her teams success.

"They are just as competitive and skilled as my sophomores and juniors."

The Bulldogs recorded an amazing 23 service aces in the victory. Windju led the team with 4 kills, and Alyssa Tenuto led with six aces.

"She's blocking everything in the middle," said Meschko of Tenuto. "She is a force to be reckoned with."
