Statue's vandals need to apologize for actions
While my heart is still broken from the lost of my best friend in Sandpoint, Louise Turner, the memories are wonderful except for a couple of things.
The Statue of Liberty was at her home for several years and was never touched , but to be appreciated by the fiends and family who were always welcome at her home.
When this "Lady" was vandalized — it not only was a terrible thing for Sandpoint, but a message that there are people in our community who not only do not care for the wonderful things that can be offered in this area but things that cannot be replaced. The "Lady" will be restored and placed back on its rightful place on City Beach.
For the "folks" who found it to be a bit of "fun" to destroy part of the "Lady" and other areas of the park, when your time comes and you arrive at the Golden Gates and expect to see St. Peter, instead you will meet Lee and she will not be pleased at what you have done — think about it. For your own conscience and the good of the community, please come forward and acknowledge what you have done and be brave enough to help restore this "Lady" either by monetary value or community service.
Just remember Louise will meet you at the door, and is a wonderful and forgiving soul — to a point.
