Bulldogs earn win over LC
COEUR d'ALENE — Senior Chase Lowther scored just 30 seconds into the game, forcing the Timberwolves to play catch-up from the kickoff, and the Bulldogs remained undefeated in Inland Empire League play with the win at Lake City High.
"That was vintage Chase Lowther, pure hustle," said coach Randy Thoreson. "Our first touch of the game, what a great way to start."
"We gave up an easy one," Lake City coach Chad Beadell said. "And if you let a team like Sanpoint get up early, they won't let you back in."
Senior Michael Brewer added a goal off a nice assist from Kyle Meaux in the 38th minute, putting the Bulldogs (5-0-2 IEL, 8-1-2) up 2-0 at the half.
Thoreson shuffled some kids around at different positions to not only make up for the absence of Brandon Eddy, who sat out with a red card, but to help combat Lake City's blazing speed.
"It was a tough game, they have enough team speed to control possession," said Thoreson. "We didn't mark all that well tonight, you can't do that long without paying the price."
Junior Chris Shaw scored on a pass from sophomore Evan Palo in the 73rd minute for Lake City (2-3-1, 4-4-2).
"I thought we played pretty well," Beadell said. "We just need to have more confidence on offense and pull the trigger and let it rip."
Thoreson lauded the play of Kyle Meaux who controlled most of the Bulldog possession at midfield.
