Laurel H. (Findley) Shirley

Laurel H. (Findley) Shirley was returned to God on Sept. 14, 2005.

Laurel was born in Newport, Wash., on Dec. 20, 1918, the eighth daughter of nine children of Fred and Madge Findley.

She met "Toby" Shirley in July 1936 and they married a short six weeks later. That marriage produced three children and lasted until Toby's death in 1989.

She is survived by her children, Sonja, (Darrell) Morris, Dave (Lela) Shirley and Sandi (John) Land; and one remaining sister, Loretta Leichner; along with seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Laurel will always be remembered for her love of family and sense of humor.

A memorial service will be at the Eagles, 236 South Union, Newport, Wash., on Oct. 8, 2005, at 2:30 p.m. She will forever be missed.
