Vernon Charles 'Bud' Carnes, 82

Vernon Charles "Bud" Carnes, 82, passed away, Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, in Clark Fork, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at the Lakeview Funeral Home with worshipful master Jon Rich of Lakeside Lodge No. 42 AF and AM conducting. Military honors will be performed by the Sandpoint Veteran's Honor Guard.

Bud was born on April 30, 1923, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Reece and Eva Carnes. He grew up and attended schools in Iowa. He entered the United States Navy in 1942, serving on the USS Houston during World War II. He received his honorable discharge in 1946.

Bud married his first wife Ruth in 1951, and they had two children, Mark and Gail. Bud worked for Firestone Tire Company in their factory in California. Ruth passed away in February 1971.

Bud then married Louise Davies on Oct. 17, 1973, in Las Vegas, Nev. The couple made their home in Downy, Calif., where they owned and operated a business called the Majestic Marble. Bud sold the business in the early 1990s.

For several years Bud and Louise would summer in Clark Fork at the River Delta Resort. In 1990, they purchased a home and moved to Clark Fork permanently.

Bud is a member of Lakeside Masonic Lodge No. 42, Norwalk Lodge No. 315, he is a 32nd degree mason, Scottish Rite, and belongs to the Calam Shrine Temple in Lewiston, Idaho. He enjoyed fishing; however, his main hobby and business was woodworking.

Bud made chairs, wishing wells, and children's toys out of wood in his shop.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Carnes of Clark Fork; a son, Mark Carnes of Buena Park, Calif.; two stepsons, Bob (Shelly) Morgan of Sussex, Wis., and Ron (Linda) Morgan of Lawndale, Calif.; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruth; a daughter, Gail; and four sisters.
