'Wood'-n't be lovely to have shiny glass for your stoves?
The weather is rapidly changing. Our nighttime temperatures are getting warmer. One of the things a lot of us use here in North Idaho is a wood stove. Cleaning the glass in those stoves can prove to be quite challenging. Below are a few tips that may make that task easier.
Take about one cup of fine ash from your stove. Make sure you clean out all of the chunks of unburned wood. Mix just enough water with the ash to make a paste. Spread the paste all over the glass. Let is dry for about 5 to 8 minutes and then use a couple of pages from an old Daily Bee newspaper and wipe/scrub off residue.
If the ash and water doesn't break loose all of the debris, mix a solution of vinegar and water. The solution ration should be 50% water and 50% vinegar. When you apply this solution be careful not to breath the fumes.
If you are allergic to any of the above products, please don't use them. Always test fabric and paints before using any chemical compounds. Please remember to wear rubber gloves to protect your hands & eye protection for your eyes.
