Cities' police response swifter than county's
Last year I had the opportunity to witness the Ponderay Police Department at work after confronting a suspicious individual at my shop. I called 911 as he sped away. The response to my call was very impressive. Within minutes, they called to have me identify him.
On Monday this week I had the opportunity to meet two Sandpoint Police officer doing an investigation. The pharmacy next to our office in Sandpoint was broken into and a large amount of drugs taken. I was very impressed with how these officers searched the area and asked questions.
Whoever committed this crime should live in fear of being caught.
This brings me to March 23, that night that about $7,500 in material was stolen from one of our job sites. This was discovered or called in Monday, March 27. The Sheriff's Office still has not sent an officer to investigate 10 days later and when I called to complain, the response I get is that if I don't have a suspect there's not much they can do but they will send someone out to file a report.
I'm sure there are some good people at the sheriff's office. Only management can be responsible for this kind of incompetence. I'm looking forward to a new opportunity at the next election. Until then, citizens beware.
