Gary Arthur Czarapata, 73, passed away, Wednesday, April 12, 2006 in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint with the Rev. Dennis C. Day of St. Joseph's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery.
Gary was born Feb. 17, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Arthur and Gail Czarapata. He was raised in Southern California by his grandparents Joe and Ursula Bergenthal.
As a young man, Gary went to work in the metal distribution industry and remained there until his retirement in 1995.
Gary married Barbara Burke on Feb. 19, 1955, in Las Vegas, Nev.
The couple had four children, and Gary's work took them from Southern California to New Jersey.
During retirement Gary settled in Palm Desert and spent everyday golfing.
In 2002, he moved to Sandpoint to be closer to family due to health reasons.
During his life he enjoyed golfing, traveling to Mexico, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, working in his yard, and working with wood.
He was a member of the Sandpoint Eagles Lodge, and belonged to Palm Desert and Sierra Lavern country clubs.
He is survived by his four children, Steven (Faith) Czarapata of Spokane, Wash., Bryan (Chantal) Czarapata of Spokane, Lance (Carol) Czarapata of Spokane, and Carrie (David) Thompson of Sandpoint; friend and caregiver until the end, Barbara Gooby of Sandpoint; 12 grandchildren, Justin, Shannon, Patrick, Alissa, Hunter, Ryan, Michelle, Madison, Gage, Roman, Athen and Atlantis.
