Families are what make celebrations so special

It's weekends like this past one that makes me realize how fortunate I am.

With it being Easter, I went down to the folks' house for the holiday. My sisters and, more importantly, my nieces and nephews, came over as well as assorted other relatives and friends.

We had a big ham lunch with all kinds of desserts, goodies and enough food to feed some Third World countries.

We talked and visited and then banished the munchkins downstairs while we hid candy-filled plastic Easter eggs all over the upstairs. (An intense afternoon storm put an end to plans to have the egg hunt outside — which was why the shindig was at the 'rents in the first place).

Within a half-hour — and the only reason it took that long was because we were all trying to find the one, LAST, egg that refused to make an appearance. (It turns out to have found a hiding spot inside the meat grinder and I won't go into who hid it there.)

Family, fun and good food — is it any wonder that I feel I am one of the luckiest people around?
