Host Cats win Clark Fork Invitational

SANDPOINT — Clark Fork seniors Zach Palmer and Chris Currie both shot 47 and led the host Wampus Cats to a win in the Clark Fork Invitational Tuesday at Hidden Lakes.

The Cats edged out Thompson Falls by six strokes, and Post Falls Christian by 11.

Freshman Josh Hardy of PFC was medalist for the boys with a 40, and Clark Fork's Megan Hess was medalist for the girls with 60.

Clark Fork will host Priest River and Wallace at Hidden Lakes on Thursday at 2 p.m.

? Sandpoint girls take sixth in golf

Ashley Burke filled in as team ace with Ashleigh Mire home sick, and shot a respectable 105 to lead Sandpoint in Moscow at the University of Idaho course.

Anna Ballard shot 118, Bonnie Snow 124 and Morgan Braun a 143 to round out the Bulldog scoring.

Sandpoint hosts a 16-team tournament next Tuesday at Hidden Lakes.

? Spartans squeak out win in 10th, 11-10 over Kellogg

PRIEST RIVER — The Spartans used a six-run second inning to build an early lead and then held off a late Wildcat rally to secure their first IML game on Tuesday in Priest River.

Tied 10-10 in the eighth, Spartan Jake Christman had a sac fly and then saved the game from the mound.

"Christman is a reliable guy to have on the mound," said Spartan coach Ryan Bodecker, who added that the team lost focus midway into the game but was able to come back for the win.
